This is Earl Dixon and his children. Dixon was a constable killed in the line of duty in Pulaski County, Illinois in 1935. I was able to find Mr. Dixon’s only surviving child, who is 87, so that he and his family would know his father’s sacrifice was being remembered and honored at the state and national level. Paul Echols took the photo of the Illinois Police Memorial Ceremony in Springfield at which Constable Dixon was among those memorialized. I so enjoy volunteering my services for this cause.

When I started researching historic cases of police officers killed in the line of duty (for nomination to the state and national memorials), I ran into the problem of trying to find the families of these fallen heroes.
